Wake Up Europe! goes to Warsaw
At Royal Łazienki Theatre in the Old Orangery on 9 Oct 2015in The Great European Disaster Movie
After launching in Brussels on Sunday our campaign was featured in Warsaw, at a debate organised by the Bronislaw Geremek Foundation for the Polish premiere of the “The Great European Disaster Movie” at the gorgeous Royal Łazienki Theatre in the Old Orangery.
Introducing the panel, which also included French journalist Bernard Guetta and Polish philosopher Marek Cichocki, Tadeusz Zielniewicz, the Director of the Royal Łazienki, said: “We are starting our conversation perversely asking ourselves if Europe is a utopia.”
Annalisa Piras, who directed the film and also directs The Wake Up Foundation told the audience: “ My goal was to make a film that would get through to people and stun them. Europe must wake up and such a signal must come from the society.”
Describing the goals of Wake Up Europe! Annalisa said: “We want to enable anyone who want to have a debate on Europe to use the film as a tool. It doesn’t matter if it’s not always shown in a beautiful theatre like this: the important thing is to get people thinking, acting and talking all over Europe.”
Zielniewicz added also that one year ago, when the “European Wednesdays” series of talks started, no one thought that the meetings would become so up-to-date because of the need of discussions on the future of EU.
